On Friday, Yahoo and Microsoft finalized a collaboration agreement on search and online advertising, according to a preliminary
statement released in July. The process dragged on until December, including because of the work of highly paid lawyers, who,
as they say , for a very long time read and coordinated every letter in the contract. This “painful procedure” took more than four months.
As you know, under the terms of the contract, Bing becomes a search provider on the Yahoo portal for 10 years, and Microsoft gives the partner 88% of the profits from search advertising. Microsoft also gains access to Inktomi / Yahoo search technologies.
Now there is only a little: approval of the transaction by the American anti-monopoly committee. There should be no problems. As a result of cooperation in the market should appear the second largest player who can compete with almost the monopolist Google, which controls 70% of the global turnover of search advertising. Approval of the transaction is expected in early 2010.
When all the legal formalities are settled, it will only remain to implement the project technically. Perhaps in February and March we will finally see the search string Bing on the Yahoo portal.

By the way, for Google this transaction is also in some sense useful, because it will weaken the claims of the antimonopoly committee.
