Strictly speaking, the service appeared on February 13, but the site did not have any advertising, and I learned about it recently, now I hasten to tell.
Cosmonimki is a service of "pictures from space". It would seem that there is
Google Maps , why reinvent the wheel?
But the fact is that Google maps are focused on the whole world in general and on large cities in particular; for example, Moscow, St. Petersburg and perhaps several more large Russian cities can be found there, but instead of other areas and cities, there are either low-resolution pictures or just “spots” and “holes” there.

But the project "Kosmosnimki" was originally
designed for Russian users , there
are photos of the Moscow region and other places in Russia that are poorly represented on Google maps. The plans of Kaliningrad and Rostov regions, then Peter will appear.
I was pleased with the
opportunity to insert into the blog or website an interactive window-map. And of course Kosmosnimkov has its own
blog and
help in which you can find all the information you are interested in about the project.
In my humble opinion, this service is very relevant for Russia, as there are still no such Russian projects, and on Google maps, as mentioned above, is far from a complete “photo map” of our country.
