Ruby specification draft released

Dear friends

Ruby language for its excellent qualities attracts a huge number of programmers, especially web developers. However, the Ruby specification is still not standardized. Information and Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) assembled the Ruby Standardization Working Group language standardization working group in October 2008 to develop a specification. Since then, the working group has developed a draft specification.

Since the first draft is finished, we appeal to users and developers of the Ruby-communities for additions and comments.

')

Collecting and reviewing comments from you, we want to finalize the draft specification. We will send the updated document to the Japanese Committee of the Industrial Standards Committee (JISC) in order to obtain the status of the Japanese Standard (JIS).

After publishing it as a JIS, we will offer it for consideration by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO / IEC JTC1) to create an international standard.

We look forward to a lot of comments and active discussions around the document.

Please send comments before January 12, 2010. We will try to display them in the specification as much as possible, before starting the standard approval process.

Ikuo nakata

Head of the Ruby Standardization Working Group

IPA
