Last week Paul Bakhythe, author of Gmail,
participated in a panel discussion on the future of email. During the conversation, Paul said that he had never tried Google Wave. As it turned out, he said nothing in vain. This phrase brought on him a flurry of criticism (see
comments on TechCrunch and
on Habré ). Many expressed in the sense that it is absolutely unacceptable for a web developer who aspires to keep abreast of modern technologies, and Paul Buckheit should be ashamed.
We must pay tribute to Bakhaytu, who listened to the criticism and tried Google Wave. Moreover, I
posted my impressions in a blog. He acknowledged that this is “a smart and promising system full of interesting ideas”, but still very raw and having a number of flaws (inconvenient chat interface, etc.).
In general, Bakhit is still confident that Google Wave will never be able to kill email.
