A year ago, we and
stervec decided to change jobs. One October evening, we met in the kitchen of a nine-storey building and began raising our new brainchild (the
old one , by the way, did not die, but just slept).
They called themselves “Nine Am”, and decided to engage in Internet projects and make websites for cool companies in our region (for those who are not cool, they did not do it at first).
Oh, what we had to go through and how many discoveries were made - shame and shame, but this is a separate tale. Today we want to tell what was our main mistake.
Major error
It turned out that doing
something for yourself is the most difficult thing. It is still possible to demand a decision from yourself, but it was not easy for
stervec to be reconciled with the imperfection of the same idealist, and I didn’t like everything to the last. We were so enthusiastic about business processes and customer projects that we could not launch our website for a whole year. Like think, the site of
some kind of studio, but FIG :-)
There was a beta version, the launch of which we publicly postponed for about 8 months, but without launching it, we made a redesign, and quickly (pyf-pyf, the task was set to launch as soon as possible) rolled out on
www.9utra.ru .
About design
What did we want? It seemed that the goals immediately agreed that a simple, but at the same time functional site was needed that would attract and impress visitors. Feelings of a light but bold design with a bright accent, which suggested a cheerful illustration to the design center. We decided to hand. In the illustration we display the name “Nine Morning” - the beginning of the day, morning, freshness, novelty, breakfast, newspaper, first cup of coffee, and so on along the associative row. For a better understanding of the topic, references were first collected, on the basis of which the style and content of the illustration were selected:

')
Then they decided to put everything together, discarding too much.
The first illustration hung on a beta version that never saw the light:

The second option was drawn to the new version of the site:

But I wanted
something brighter and more alive, spat out and rendered in 3D:

And we stopped in the end, on this:

And so that on a widescreen monitor a fixed-width site would not fall into the abyss, we needed a pattern. We took it from a man's vest :-)

Our plans were to make it fun and not boring, because the work for us is primarily a pleasure, and only then the reanimation of the Udmurt Internet space ;-)
We can look at what happened as a result on
the studio's website , and here we will be glad to receive any comments.
UPD : We solve a problem with a habraeffekt. On Majordomo offended.
