The US Army is building a new supercomputer center
The US Army is going to spend $ 105 million over five years to build a new supercomputer center based on the NASA Ames Research Center in California. Stanford University will lead the construction of a research center. They will be assisted by engineers and scientists from NASA, University of Maryland Morgan, State University of New Mexico and the University of Texas.
The purpose of the new center is to test using computer simulations of various new military applications and hardware, for example, wireless technologies on the battlefield, advanced warning systems for war with the use of biological weapons, lightweight materials for military vehicles.
“Using the most advanced high-performance computer resources, a research center of this size has tremendous potential for innovative technologies,” said Charbel Farhat, a professor of mechanical engineering at Stanford Institute.
