Yesterday I saw in the Computerra feed the news that a certain Waze comes to Russia. I decided to look - what kind of beast is this?
Waze is a navigation program taking into account the traffic situation, maps for which are drawn by the users themselves. When moving, the program records the track (need gps), sends it to the server (need access to the network) and if at least one more user passes along this road, the road is considered confirmed and appears on the map. For laying the road user points are awarded. The names of the streets are also given by users, for this you can get additional points. In addition, as in Yandex Maps, drivers can send information about traffic jams, accidents, speed cameras and police ambushes to the server. In addition, the author of the report can leave a comment, and other users comment it, confirm or deny the information.
Here is a short video explaining what Waze is and how it works:

This morning I tried to ride with Waze. Small comments: 1. There is a lonely Volokolamskoe highway on the map, nothing more 2. In order to record your path, you must enable the recording 3. It is possible to display on the map other Vasers (if they, of course, gave permission for this) 4. Interface - cartoon and funny 5. In the version for Symbian there is no choice of connection - you have to be cunning 6. The program is very offended by the loss of GPS satellites. Immediately throws everything and says - no GPS signal. Habitual navigators become gray, but persist in dragging you through the tunnels in the hope that you will ever leave from there. 7. The site has a Live Map, while in Russia only one city is being searched for - Voronezh. I understand that you can add content, have not figured out yet how. Update: But no, there is Moscow. And even something painted, partly TTE, partly Leningradka, Khodynka, a little center. It is working! 8. You can register a new user only through the application - there is no registration on the website. 9. There is an automatic posting of your updates to Twitter. In principle, the topic can be squeezed, but you need a sufficiently large number of users and a developed hashtag system for cities. From what I see, there is no such system, so we enjoy reports about traffic jams under Naples, which, of course, is incredibly interesting, but somehow of little use for Russian motorists. 10. If I understood correctly, then “dirty” roads can be reported - i.e. roads without asphalt. Our people love to go around traffic jams through forests and fields, therefore, to avoid dragging unsuspecting users on the Matiz in the swamp, it is possible to avoid such roads. Well, for the lucky owners of freelancers, on the contrary, there is an option "use little-known roads."
Well, actually, what I wanted to say - let's draw the roads together. This is a completely stupid occupation for one, but for an army like us, this is not only convenient, useful and very promising, but also fun.
Update from mamyta : I use this program in Israel, it struck when he warned me that after 500 meters the cops in my way :)
