Sales of HTC HD2, the first smartphone with 802.11n support, started in Russia
On November 23, the first batch of new WinMo-smartphones HTC HD2 entered the MTS salons at the price of 29990 rubles, and according to rumors it diverges like hot cakes. And this is not surprising, given that the main competitor - the N900 is available in small editions and has, compared to the United States , an unobjectively inflated price ( $ 28,900 ).
However, the news of the week was the support in 802.11n HD2 WiFi. Although the chip from Broadcom, which implements WiFi in HD2, supports the 802.11n draft, the ability to use this mode in the phone has been blocked. However, the guys from Sleshgear found a way to activate 802.11n: you just need to change the value of the 11nModeDisable key from 1 to 0 in the HKLMCommBCMSDDHD1Parms registry key. However, using this hack, the smartphone's battery life is slightly reduced.
Even more curious is the fact that HD2 is the first WinMo-smartphone from HTC, which supports digital compass, which means that the applications of augmented reality on HTC HD2 will soon become reality :) ')
The work of the compass is shown on the video:
Finally, I propose to look at an interesting review of the new incarnation of the HTC Sense interface on WinMo:
In a recent interview, company CEO Peter Chou said that HTC will showcase a LTE-enabled smartphone at the Shanghai Expo 2010, which starts next May.
