The manufacturer of the set-top box asks hackers to hack it

Neuros Technology is writing an open letter to all hackers who hacked into Apple TV, asking them to help make a contribution to the development of their computer set-top box to the TV ... by hack.

Neuros OSD is a computer set-top box for TV, which in its functionality surpasses such devices as TiVo and Apple TV, and this prefix on top of everything is smaller and cheaper. This smart box uses free and open source software, and the hacker community is working to improve it.

The letter says that now the built-in components are practically closed, unlike the components for the PC. For the console, there is simply no ripened open product that allows you to play and record media files, and the power of the console is not enough to port PC software. And despite the fact that their prefix with each new generation is becoming more and more open, the company is still heavily dependent on the licensed proprietary code - here is Neuros and asks hackers to contribute.

Basically, the letter focuses on the fact that most other manufacturers ignore or even try to suppress the actions of hackers, while Neuros, on the contrary, fully supports them. The company claims that useful hacks will be included in future generations of devices.

Neuros does not sell content, but simply produces prefixes, so the DRM technology is not at all interesting for it, but indeed their prefix about this technology is neither a dream nor a spirit :)
