Beta version of the "killer" (or "competitor") Google Chrome OS will be released in January 2010, release - during the year

Computerworld writes about the expected timing of the free access to the new Web OS for netbooks - Jolicloud. It is better known as a very peculiar " competitor " of Google Chrome OS. So, the CEO of Jolicloud, Tariq Krim, says that the public beta of the OS will be presented at the end of January 2010 at CES, and the final release will be released within a year.

Jolicloud from Google Chrome OS will be different, first of all, because it will not be completely “web-based” - users will be able to choose not only remote storage as a file storage location, but also a regular computer disk. In addition, the competitive advantage is the full support of modern Intel GMA500 video chips for netbooks such as the Dell Mini 12, Asus Eee 1101HA or Acer Aspire One 751, which will allow you to watch HD video on them. The interface will be optimized for small screens netbooks. Other internal devices will also work better than on regular desktop Linux distributions.

A typical case study of Jolicloud will be installing it as a second OS (along with Windows XP or 7 Starter) on a netbook, and even a simple user can do it. Therefore, the system will be freely distributed for download from the project site. OEM presets will not be - as the aforementioned general director put it, “there are only 12 people in our company and we cannot pay them for meetings with each [vendor].” He also made an even more scathing remark: “While Chrome OS will provide users with something more massive [generic], we will do something close to Mac in terms of user interface.”
