Trackid

TrackID is a service created in early 2006 by California-based Gracenote for Walkman series phones and SonyEricsson, which allows recognizing a performer and the name of a piece of music from its short excerpt recorded on the phone’s microphone.

Principle of operation

To work with the service in the SonyEricsson phone that supports the function, the TrackID application is built in, accessible from the menu. To recognize a piece of music, the user launches the program — it records an excerpt (10-12 seconds) of the piece of music using the phone’s built-in AMR microphone and sends it to the SonyEricsson web service, where it is compared with the samples existing in the database and after a few seconds If successful, information about the song is displayed on the screen.

Most likely, the basis of the service is the technology of audio prints and a large database of audio data. As a result, when comparing with other files, candidates are detected with a certain probability.
