Founder of Nival Group plans to invest $ 5 million in a new game for social networks

The new company Orlovsky - Nival Network is now in the “process of obtaining investment,” said Orlovsky. He does not name the investor, adding that the transaction may be closed before the end of the year. Funds needed by the company to develop the game Prime World, on the basis of which Orlovsky is building a social network. The project's budget is $ 5 million, while the usual cost of developing games for social networks is from $ 50,000 to $ 100,000, Orlovsky said. He explains the high cost of the project by its scale: it will be a multiplayer strategy, similar in quality to a full-fledged client game, but in a social network. It will be fully developed by Nival Network itself without buying a Western license. The budget of Orlovsky’s previous project, the client-based Allods Online, was $ 12 million, the official site of the Zvorykinsky project reports.

The former Orlovsky company - Nival Online, which publishes and develops online games (including the same “Allods online”), in 2007 became part of Astrum Online Entertainment - a holding controlled by Digital Sky Technologies (DST). Why he began a new project outside the holding, Orlovsky does not explain. It is unlikely that a startup Orlovsky will be able to buy licenses for serious games: for a startup, they are expensive, said Astrum's vice president of business development Vsevolod Leonov.

DST is interested in Orlovsky’s new project and can receive in it from 10%, they say
employee of one of the DST companies and manager of the investment fund. But a manager close to DST does not confirm this. Now 70% of Nival Networks is owned by the Orlovsky company Talco Global Inc., and another 30% is owned by a major distributor, software maker and publisher of 1C games Boris Nuraliev.

1C identified online games and transferred them to several companies, including Nival Networks, said a 1C representative. The company did the same with publishing games on disks: most of them moved to 1C-Softclub. Nival Networks manages several 1C game projects (for example, King's Bounty, Bashers), Orlovsky said.

$ 5 million is an atypical budget for games on social networks, says Nikita Sherman, the founder of the manufacturer of such games Drimmi. This is the budget for the "hard" game, designed for professionals, the audience of social networks does not play in such, therefore, at one time, the American Zynga refused to produce the game with a similar budget for Facebook.
