I am sure that very few people need to explain who Isaac Asimov is. A brilliant scientist, author of many great fantastic works, including the grand cycle "Foundation" (better known here as "Academy"), the epic "Choice of Disasters", as well as the famous three laws of robotics, even beyond science fiction, and much more. In the end, everyone watched the film “I, Robot”, based on several stories of the master.
A man of incredibly deep and diverse mind, he was an expert in many areas, not even connected in any way with each other. There is hardly a better confirmation of what has been said than the fact that he received his doctorate at the age of 28.
But who would have thought that among other things, he was also a serious historian!
For me personally, at least, it was a great discovery when, walking through the bookstore, I came across the following
edition :
Publisher: Eksmo, 2009. Hardcover, 384 pages. ISBN 978-5-699-36975-1, Circulation: 3,000 copies.')
From the publisherHow did one of the greatest powers in the history of mankind emerge from the ever-conquered island? Who are kolokovidnye cups? How was Stonehenge built? What impact did the Vikings, Romans, Saxons, and other peoples make their way through the strait to the development of politics, religion, science, and culture in England?
Azimov in a light and fascinating form examines the history of Foggy Albion from the very beginnings until the XIII century AD, when the Magna Carta was signed, which largely determined the further development of human civilization.Perhaps this was the only way to make me, a person who always disliked history and had a bad relationship with the teachers of this discipline, both at school and later, in high school, voluntarily take something like that in my hands. Actually, I did not hesitate and never regretted it - on the contrary, I also have plans to buy Rome, Egypt and France from the same series and, of course, the same author;)
