The Russian government recently
presented to the public the
details of the project plan for the construction of the longest underwater tunnel in the world that will connect the United States and Russia, namely Alaska and Siberia. This project is part of a program
worth $ 65 billion, which, according to experts, will primarily contribute to the strengthening of economic ties between these countries. It is known that the tunnel will also play the role of a channel for the supply of electricity, gas and oil.
The tunnel, which will include the railway track, highway, pipeline, is supposed to be held under water in the Bering Strait. The length of the installation connecting Russia and Alaska is approximately 103 km, which is 2 times the size of the well-known tunnel connecting England and France.
It is known that the project was proposed by the Ministry of Economy of Russia, and also funded by private investors. Soon, Russian officials are going to submit a plan to the US government.

It is interesting to note that in the last century, in 1905, Nicholas II was going to connect Siberia and Alaska with an underwater tunnel, but the beginning of the First World War and the death of the ruler put an end to the project.
