Wii-backgrounds, or phones with motion sensors

Some mobile phones in Japan are equipped with motion sensors that allow users to play mobile games, as is done in the Nintendo Wii.

NTT DoCoMo's D904i phone model (the most popular Japanese mobile operator) has a tiny motion sensor that responds to shaking and moods. The owner of the phone can play such toys as tennis or fishing by operating a virtual racket or fishing rod with the help of his mobile phone, and not with his keyboard.

In the racing game "Tokyo Highway Battle" the user controls the wheels of the car, turning his tube.

Meanwhile, two new phones from Sharp and Matsushita Electric use built-in cameras to detect movement. Users can control a hip-hop dancer by waving a finger in front of the camera, or beat in a virtual ring, striking in the air.

DoCoMo warns users not to go too far with their handsets;)

“If you wave the phone very enthusiastically, staring at the display, you can annoy others,” says a company spokesman, Nobuyuki Hatanaka.

It is expected that the new phones will hit sales in May ... So far, only in Japan.
