Video rental with PlayStation 3
I was about to sleep when I saw on lenta.ru the news that Sony had started selling and renting films for the PlayStation 3. The price of lenta.ru promised iridescent: for 1,99 € you can rent a movie, and for 7,99 € - to buy. Here they lied, I didn’t find films for two euros, they usually cost from three to five euros, in HD for euros it’s more expensive, the purchase is about eight to fifteen, depending on the movie. Rental movies can be viewed for 14 days, given for 48 hours.
The purchase and rental of videos is available so far only for Germany, the UK, Spain and France, so the country at registration must immediately indicate the appropriate one, and then, as it turned out, cannot be changed.

Despite the selected Russian interface language of the console, everything on PlayStation Store was in German - apparently, according to the country specified during registration, so I will list the items in the main menu: new items, top movies available in HD, categories (genres), film studios, special offers , collections, rental. To the left of the menu are constantly changing pictures for different films.
Only 10 films are currently available in High Definition:

I finally remembered which movie I hadn’t watched yet - The Bourne Ultimatum:
I will take it for rent. When a movie is placed in the basket, a dialog is displayed for confirmation with a warning:
A rented movie can be viewed within 14 days, but not longer than 48 hours after the start of the viewing.
Movies in the basket can be paid:
Previously, I put into the account 5 euros - in a browser on a computer.
The paid movie can now be downloaded:
Suddenly, the Russian language appeared. The illuminated wide button under the progress bar allows you to download in the background.
Then I realized that I had taken the wrong movie: (I choose the right one, but I don’t have enough money:
You can refill your account without leaving the TV, choosing a payment method and amount:
I pay for the Bourne Ultimatum; now I have two films in the download list:
The movie was loaded at a speed of about 15 megabytes (1%) per minute. My connection is 6000 kilobits / sec, so the limitation is most likely from Sony. Viewing can begin immediately, without waiting for the download.
The topic was prepared using Word 2010 Beta 64-bit (on Windows 7 Beta), which can post to blogs, but it terribly slows down, crashed a couple of times, but instantly recovered in the same state.
