ViewSonic VOT550 - miniPC with Blu-ray drive

We are used to seeing netbooks based on Intel Atom processors. In ViewSonic, we went another way and presented two full-featured PCs without trivia.

As ViewSonic VOT530 and ViewSonic VOT550 are based on Intel Core 2 Duo with a frequency of 2.2 GHz. The devices are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, 6 USB ports, a network controller, an eSATA port and a DVI-I output.

The 530th model received 2 GB of RAM and a DVD drive. The 550th ViewSonic boasts 4GB of RAM and a Blu-ray drive.

Up to a full-fledged PC, this miniPC lacks only graphics. Intel GM45 chipset has very modest capabilities. It would be much more interesting to see a solution like Nvidia Ion, but, alas ... for now it is impossible.

ViewSonic VOT530 sells for $ 749, VOT550 is two hundred more expensive.

By the way, it is believed that miniPC will soon be seriously competing with office desktops. Just due to the fact that they consume less energy. As far as we know, in Moscow now, for example, the practice is common: a business center has been built, it needs 200 kilowatts for it, and the city says, here you are 40, save what you want. Want - do not put air conditioners, want - on the 15th floor on foot, your business. In this case, 1000 running miniPC instead of 1000 standard desktops is a good way out.
