Microsoft hosted Microsoft Hosting Day yesterday. There were about 100 people, maybe a little less, probably 80 of them. I read there a short presentation about marketing opportunities with MS on hosting - what materials, programs are there and how we decide which partners to do joint marketing with.
The last question caused an immediate question in the hall - “And if my product uses components from another manufacturer?” To which I joked in the spirit of not representing Microsoft as an evil empire, and that we are all wearing white helmets like the ones in Star Wars on the upper floors of the office in Krylatskoye (only Black is from Steve Balmer). Everything you need and can talk. But it seems that this point of view is widespread among the broad masses - and it is quite clear why. I work at Microsoft for 7 months and 1 day and, of course, my understanding of how a company works and who works in it has changed a lot. Not for better or worse (such assessments are always subjective), namely from the point of view of how it is technologically arranged.
Then I will begin to speak platitudes, but what to do if it is so :). Microsoft, just like other companies, is pretty simple - there are people who have specific goals. People are mostly young and goal-oriented, although there are old fart like me (old fart = old pepper, if anyone does not know :). Nobody will wear helmets here for sure (but shale and wiped jeans are a delight). ')
Undoubtedly, there are a lot of corporate programs and initiatives, mostly well thought out and useful, but when a problem arises outside the program framework, only a person can help here. The main difficulty is that Microsoft is a very large organization with a mass of people - and it’s unreal to get acquainted with all the people and their tasks.
Nobody knows a universal recipe how to find the right person in Microsoft, but I can give advice - write and call someone you know, if a specific contact cannot help, then ask to be connected with the right person. Does it sound trite again? So what did you want - not the gods burn the pots, but ordinary people work in Microsoft :)
Well, taking this opportunity, I will introduce myself at the same time - in MS I work with hosts and web agencies in terms of developing their business with Microsoft. Have questions, suggestions? I will answer. Write here or on i-akovya@microsoft.com
