English without fools: Lessons online for free, live, for everyone!

Today I have a small holiday: the first anniversary of the rebirth of the site “English without fools” . For a long time I was going to tell dear habravchanam about this project, but somehow everything was no reason, but today I can not resist, do not blame me.

If you have ever been interested in the possibilities of learning English online, you should be aware of the basic figures of the Runet in this area, and with it the feeling of annoyance that all these resources are essentially the same, namely a collection of static materials of varying degrees of diversity and fullness: textbooks for download, books in English, articles on grammar, occasionally some tests and exercises, plus collections of idioms, proverbs, anecdotes, songs, and other supporting information.

And it's all?! Now, when is the 21st century on the calendar? And where is the interactive? Where is multimedia? Where is the vibrant community? Indeed, with today's level of Internet technologies, it’s more than realistic to put all this at the service of the language learning business! When I once discovered a gaping void in the English services for studying English, I did not dilute my sentiments, but sat down at a computer, and after a while a project appeared that brought my own idea of ​​what the site should be to help language learners. In a nutshell: if traditional websites resemble a library, then “English without fools” is an educational institution.

Everything happens as follows. Every week the next task is published on the site. Tasks follow the established format and include rad text, audio and video. During the week, program participants work on the assignment and, when they are ready, enter their answers. After this, a debriefing is performed, where we review selected work, identify typical errors and note the distinguished ones.

In this form, the program existed until the end of the last academic season. During the summer holidays, new ideas emerged, and starting in September, the format of the classes was somewhat modified to include the most numerous and most needing part of the audience: beginner English language learners.

I could talk about the project for a long time: about constantly added innovations, such as the index of the participant’s activity or the built-in vocabulary call , new headings on the site, how at a certain moment the course was taken to transform the author’s project into “Webdvanol” resource, and you never know what else. But I appreciate your time, and therefore I interrupt my story in order to answer the main question that has long been circling in your language: is there any benefit from all this?

I will not bend my heart. The benefits are definitely there, but! If you are waiting for a miraculous breakthrough, you should warn: our program does not create a sufficient load for this. Those who need to force their English will have to look for a tutor themselves and deal with them additionally. In any case, language learning is one activity where success largely depends on the will and perseverance of the individual. Yes, methodological and organizational assistance also play a role, but only as supporting factors. And if “English without fools” for you personally will be the very factor in achieving success, I will be extremely happy. After all, it was for this that everything was started!
