Laptop reliability statistics

The company SquareTrade, which is engaged in warranty repair and maintenance of electronics, has published statistics on the reliability of laptops. Statistics are collected on a sample of 30,000 laptops purchased by SquareTrade customers.

It turned out that almost every third laptop fails in the first three years of operation. In this sense, it is difficult to imagine a more fragile device than a laptop (imagine if every third TV or car would break in the first three years of operation).

Asus and Toshiba laptops are recognized as the most reliable, although the percentage of failures of 15.6% and 15.7% is clearly not the limit of perfection, but for an outsider of the HP rating, this percentage goes off scale.

On the second graph, the numbers are less than on the first, because failures were not taken into account due to the human factor, that is, accidental damage.

The chances of laptop survival depend heavily on build quality. Obviously, the same factor affects the price of the device. It is logical that the least reliable netbooks, which are made from cheap components.

Finally, we give a graph of failures in the first year of operation, monthly.
