According to the VTsIOM survey :
- a third of Russians (28%) believe that the sun revolves around the earth,
with 14% - that the Earth makes a revolution around the Sun in one month,
14% are convinced that radioactive milk can be made safe by boiling,
57% believe that all radioactivity is the work of man,
25% are sure that the genes of the mother determine the sex of the child,
26% believe that the laser works by focusing sound waves,
almost half of people believe that antibiotics kill viruses,
and 55% believe in God (every fourth believes in signs, every tenth believes in horoscopes, and every fourteenth in aliens).
But 18% do not believe in any supernatural forces and phenomena.
Yes, the level of scientific knowledge of Russians was lower than in Europe (although even there 29% of the population believes that the sun revolves around the earth):The level of knowledge in Russia is somewhat lower than in the European Union: very good scientific knowledge (from 10 to 13 correct answers) is demonstrated by 22% of Russians and 42% of EU residents; rather, good knowledge (from 6 to 9 correct answers) - 51% and 43% respectively; bad knowledge (no more than 5 correct answers) - 27% and 15%.
Interest in science and technology gets on among Russians with faith in God (55%), fate (42), signs (23%), reward for sins (19%), supernatural power (16%), horoscopes (10%). Only 18% of respondents say that they do not believe in any supernatural forces and phenomena. Since 2005, their share has slightly increased (from 14% to 18%). At the same time, the proportion of those who believe in omens (from 18% to 23%) and fatalists (from 35% to 42%) also increased.

By the way, I want to note that to the question "Do I agree with the statement that the sun revolves around the earth," I would also answer "I agree." And in the same way I would answer the question "Do I agree with the statement that the Earth revolves around the Sun." Both statements are true. So what's wrong with VTsIOM: the wording of the question provokes people to give the right answer, which VTsIOM considers wrong.
