Last night I published a
post on HabrΓ© in which it was proposed to conduct a psychological game-poll. As promised, today I am summing up this poll.
The rules of the game, formulated directly on the site:
βIn this game you need to choose two random numbers from 0 to 9 so that these numbers get the least amount of penalty points. Scoring these points is quite simple - each player, having chosen a number, adds a penalty point to her. That is, in other words, you need to determine which numbers will be chosen by the players least of all and indicate them in your answer. Naturally, to know what numbers other players have chosen, you will not until the very end of the game and the debriefing. At first glance, the game - the purest game for good luck. But this is not quite the case; there is one more point of the rules, which I have not yet voiced. The fact is that each digit initially has a certain amount of penalty points - the β1β has 10, the 2 has 20, ..., the 9 has 90. The 0 has no penalty points at the beginning.
And it is precisely this point that introduces intrigue into the game. On the one hand, it is more logical to choose β0β and β1β, because in the beginning they have the least penalty points, which means these are the winning figures. But so many will judge. It will be these two numbers that will be chosen, and it is they who will rapidly gain penalty points. So in the course of the game, they will be ahead of both "2" and "3". Is it so? Your task is to predict the behavior of the crowd and its attitude, to determine which figures will not be popular. Good luck to the participants. β
So, the results. Yes, indeed, users have outsmarted themselves. Exactly 100 responses were received, but only 94 were taken into account due to the obvious repetitions from the same user.
As stated in the rules, it was most logical to choose "0" and "1". They should have been chosen more often. Think that's what happened? Not at all, on the contrary, these two numbers were chosen least often (I do not take into account the "8" and "9", these figures initially had no chance at all)! As a result, β9β was chosen 7 times, β8β - 9 times, but β0β and β1β - 14 and 16, respectively. Given the initial penalty points, we get the following picture:
"0" 14 points (selected 14 times)
"1" 26 points (16 times)
"2" 36 points (16 times)
"3" 56 points (26 times)
"4" 77 points (37 times)
"5" 69 points (19 times)
"6" 76 points (16 times)
"7" 92 points (22 times)
"8" 89 points (9 times)
"9" 97 points (7 times)
Most often chosen "3" and "4". Habravchane did not even believe in the "two".
Even if we take into account some confusion, which was present in the statement of the rules and conducting the survey, the conclusions are unequivocal. It seems that there would be more votes - the gap would be even greater.
Now all answers are open on the
site , you can familiarize yourself with the results of the survey.
