How to protect your personal data when registering a domain?

image After reading the post " I see through you, and you naively believe that you are completely safe " remembered the incident, which made me very angry because I was "forced" to publish personal information about myself on the Internet.

I try not to leave information about myself on the Internet.

When registering a domain name in the imena.ua service , I initially did not want to indicate my personal data in Whois.

I have specified the correct data in the user profile on imena.ua. These data are not available to anyone and are needed so that Imena.ua service employees can contact me, as well as send a certificate to the domain name by mail. But when filling out a form with information that goes to the Whois record, I indicated false data in the required fields: Surname, Postal address, etc. Fortunately, on the site imena.ua separately indicated profile data and data that go to the whois record.
')
I even called and clarified this question from the support service. I was clearly and clearly told that I did the right thing: the main thing is to specify the correct data in the profile, and in whois I can indicate everything I want.

But! Time passes, and I get a letter similar to the following:

" This message is a reminder to maintain correct contact information for your domain. We have the following information for the domain% domain%, which we have registered:

% Info from whois%

If you find that any information is inaccurate, please correct it in your control panel.

Once you save your changes, they will appear on Whois instantly.

Please remember that in accordance with the Domain Registration Agreement, incorrectly entered contact information on Whois may cause a domain registration to be denied. "
(I did not correct the punctuation - let the staff of the registrar imena.ua be ashamed)

After long attempts to clarify this issue and find justice, I was finally intimidated by the opportunity to terminate the contract, and I posted my information for everyone to see. And now anyone in black jeeps can visit in the middle of the night to visit the domain owner.

As the history of Whois changes is preserved, then, as I understand it, it's too late to rock the boat. But still, still hurt.
Besides, I believe that the truth is on my side.
Domains registered with other registrars, in the whois record contain the postal address of the registrar of the domain name. I found a document regulating this process, and it says there that the registrar can indicate his postal address. However, the employees of imena.ua refused to go to meet me. In addition, it is written in their agreement that I must provide personal information upon their request.

Can someone tell me if there is truth in this world?

Update:
Registering a domain, you need to specify the correct contact information. Otherwise, the domain may be blocked by the registrar due to a violation of the registration agreement. This information should be available when checking through the WHOIS database, as required by ICANN, the international organization that controls domain names. But often this information can be used for unfair purposes, for example, spamming.

Many registrars provide the WhoIs Protect service. This service is a concealment of WhoIs information in public sources. It is primarily intended to hide the contact details of the domain owner from spammers. This service is not intended to completely hide the information about the owner of the domains that conduct illegal activities. In the event of such, all data on the domain owner will be issued at the appropriate request of the competent authorities.

To implement WhoIs Protect, registrars use services like http://privacyprotect.org/ , http://contactprivacy.com/ .

When using this service, the WhoIs entry will look as shown in the example:
What is Privacy Protect

However, then the question arises: how to confirm your right to own a domain? Which registrar can you trust?
