CMS Award 2009 Results

Recently on Habré ran the news " Drupal recognized 2009 Best Open Source PHP CMS ", but recently the results for all nominations were finally announced and now we can evaluate the results of the competition.

Overall Best Open Source CMS Award


1st place: wordpress
2nd place: MODx and SilverStripe

Last year, the overall Best Open Source CMS Award finalists were Drupal and Joomla. For them, organized a separate nomination. The alignment of forces remains the same:

1st place: Drupal
2 place: Joomla

Most Promising Open Source CMS


1 place: ImpressCMS
2nd place: Pixie and Pligg

Best Open Source PHP CMS


1st place: Drupal
2 place: WordPress
3rd place: Joomla!

Best Other Open Source CMS


1st place: Plone
2 place: dotCMS
3rd place: mojoPortal

In addition, this year we have identified the most significant people in the development of different CMS. And here are the results:

CMS Made Simple - Robert Campbell
Drupal - Dries Buytaert
MODx - Ryan Thrash
mojoPortal - Joe Audette
TYPO3 - Kasper Skaarhoj
TYPOlight - Leo Feyer

It is strange that in those nominations where it was decided to divide the second place between the two participants, they did not give third place to anyone. Apparently this was done in order to save, as the money for the prizes was well spent (Drupal took the most).

A very interesting rivalry happened with Wordpress, which appeared suddenly and, thanks to a large audience, immediately gained a strong advantage. I admit honestly that the MODx community has slightly upset this situation, as we counted on the first place :-)

Congratulations to all the winners! Good luck next year to all the losers.

Once again, I thank the MODx community (especially the Russian community ) for my active participation and congratulations on their victory!
