Three new hard drives announced today will go on sale in April-June of this year, and now more about each:
The first model (15K300) from Hitachi is able to unwind up to 15,000 revolutions per minute and is capable of recording up to 300GB of data (there are 73 and 147GB models). Winchesters support RVS technology (provides vibration damping at high revs) and TFC (thermal control). The maximum data transfer rate claimed by the manufacturer is 1441MBps, while the hard disk emits 35dB of noise. The weight of the device is considerable - 745 grams!
The second on the list is the Ultrastar C10K147, which you guessed it, it has a volume of 147GB, 10000rpm. 16MB cache, 1057MBps, weight 227 grams - the perfect solution for laptops.
The last star in the list, but not the last in terms of performance - the A7K1000, comes in a 700 gram box and has a volume of 500, 750, or 1000GB with 32MB of cache, the claimed data transfer rate is 1070MBps.
