YouTube will support 1080p video

A popular service announced that users will soon be able to upload to the site and watch videos in 1080p HD. Viewers will be able to choose in what resolution to watch the content - 720p (maximum for today) or 1080p.

It should be noted that YouTube is not a pioneer in this innovation: some video portals, such as SmugMug, already support higher video resolutions. "The resolution of home video cameras is increasing all the time, and YouTube wants to remain the best resource for publishing videos," service representatives said.

Users can already send 1080p video. It is expected that the advanced service will work in the coming weeks. Movies of quality 1080p, loaded earlier, will be automatically recoded - that is, there is no need for their re-pouring onto the portal.
