Earth almost hit an asteroid

On November 6, 2009, an asteroid with a diameter of about 7 meters flew at a distance of 14,000 km from Earth. Astronomers only noticed him 15 hours before the minimum distance was reached . November 6, at around 4:30 pm EST (according to estimates, 0:30 the next day in Moscow) a 7-meter asteroid, later called “2009 VA,” approached the Earth at a distance approximately equal to its two radii. It can be seen from the picture that the asteroid flew inside the orbit of the moon, that is, by space standards, it is generally near.

This incident is considered the third in danger of collision.

Before that there was a meter-long asteroid 2008 TS26, which flew at a distance of 6150 km from the surface of the Earth on October 9, 2008 and a 7-meter asteroid 2004 FU162, which flew at a distance of 6535 km from the ground on March 31, 2004.
