The founder of the MMM financial pyramid, Sergey Mavrodi, on Tuesday was found guilty of deceiving investors. The victims in the case are more than 10 thousand people, and the announcement of the sentence will take several days.
Chertanovskiy court of Moscow found that Mavrodi committed theft, that is, fraud, by deception and abuse of trust, the judge said, reading the court's decision.
During the announcement of the sentence, some investors, while outside the door, chanted the slogan "Freedom for Mavrodi!" In the corridor of the court there were more than three dozen investors who tried to get into the courtroom.

Mavrodi faces five years in prison

The Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow on December 2, 2003, had already passed a sentence in a criminal case against Mavrodi - he was found guilty of organizing a passport fraud and sentenced to a year and a month in prison. A passport to someone else’s name was found by the defendant during a search of an apartment on Frunzenskaya Embankment, where he lived and was detained on January 31, 2003.
