After four years of development, a unique racing system in augmented reality,
Real Time Race is ready to launch. The site posted a
demo version of the game and promise to launch the full version in parallel with the next season of Formula 1.
The technology involves the removal of three-dimensional information from the racetrack in real time. Information about the location of each car with an accuracy of a centimeter is removed by rotating lasers installed at all sites (see
video ), rendered on a mobile data center and transmitted to the player’s computer. The route itself is downloaded in advance so that during the live broadcast the amount of transmitted data is minimal. Accordingly, the player can virtually sit in the car of any pilot and watch everything that happens. Moreover, he can take control!
Of course, the real racers do not see the virtual and cannot react to it, but everything else for the player looks absolutely real and the picture on the computer monitor exactly matches what he sees on TV during the live broadcast of Formula 1, except for delays on rendering and ping.
