Colleagues!
Not so long ago, Ukraine was embraced by the boom of cartographic services, when Google finally
remembered our country and launched its maps in Ukraine, and Yandex, which in principle did not forget about Ukraine and even considers it its strategic direction, in response
updated its maps , which before that, they sinned with inaccuracies.

In addition, in Ukraine, there are
Mapia.ua , which is also used by someone in their start-ups, from cartographic services that provide their API free of charge or almost free of charge.
Not so long ago, we (
Vano ,
VBykanov )
wrote on Habré about the launch of our first startup
ProkatVsego.com.ua and now it’s time to attach some cards to it. Yes, only I would not like any, but I would like those that will be convenient, first of all, to Ukrainian users, about whom we do not cease to care. In addition to convenience, they themselves should be as accurate as possible, at least in the main regional centers and major cities of Ukraine.
')
Hence the question to the respected habrasoobschestvu - what cards do you use in your startups, focused on UAnet? Why? If you were currently faced with the task of developing a map service now using the API maps, which vendor would you choose and why? Please express your opinion and position on this issue in the comments. Also,
there is an idea to get together and discuss this issue in real mini-camp in Kiev. Thank you in advance!
UPD: In addition to Mapia.ua, there is another player on the Ukrainian market, which I honestly knew, but forgot. This is
Visicom , which also provides an API. But according to information from the
group on LinkedIn , where this topic is also being discussed, "
Mapia and Visik have a weak API, and some also have low uptime. ". By the way, the free Mapia API has a limit of up to 5,000 requests per day, while for Visicom it is 1,000 requests per day. In the same Yandex - it is 25,000 requests, and in Google, if I'm not mistaken, there is no limit at all. Although, in principle, the issue of paying / free is not a matter of principle - it would be worth paying for.
UPD2: Both Google and Yandex in Ukraine have the same supplier, Transnavicom. The difference in the quality of cards is theoretically explained by the fact that “
The process of updating maps is very long. For example, Yandex launched one city, and Google launched this city 3 months later, and the supplier during this time had a new version of the map, which Google received, and Yandex now it takes time to update the city, similar to Google in the same situation. ". By the way, Google in Ukraine has 42 cities covered, and Yandex has 36.
UPD3 is insignificant: Apparently this topic, for some reason I did not understand, caused unhealthy emotions in some individuals, for which they
received “huge human thanks” for the minuses into karma.
