Tesla Roadster: 501 km without recharging

The sports model Tesla Roadster set a new record for electric vehicles in terms of travel distance per charge: 501 km. This event took place on Tuesday as part of the Global Green Challenge . I must say that the Tesla Roadster blocked 114 km from the previous record of 387 km , set in April by the same “Roadster”, at 114 km.

The photo in the car sealed recharge jack before the race.

Half a thousand kilometers is about the same amount as any gasoline vehicle is capable of driving at one gas station. That is, according to this indicator, electric cars, it can be said, caught up with their gasoline ancestors.

True, this achievement is more theoretical than practical. The fact is that an absolutely smooth Australian desert with no hills, turns, traffic lights and traffic was chosen to break the record.

Throughout the journey, the Roadster maintained a speed of 55 km / h as the most energy efficient, so it took as much as nine hours to cover the entire distance of a sports car. In normal city traffic, an electric car, of course, will not travel such a distance. Even according to official specifications, his maximum distance is only 392 km.

One way or another, but the record is registered. Australian Internet service provider Internode Simon Hackett and Emilis Prelgauskas were honored to be pilots of the car in this historic achievement. The course of the race they covered in his blog .

At the moment, approximately 900 Tesla Roadster cars, assembled by hand, are driving around the world. Mass production will begin in the next two years.
