Today, one of the accountants brought the next client bank for installation, which at first glance was unremarkable. There are no requirements for the system where it should be installed, apart from the presence of CryptoPro (and the corresponding distribution kit), the documentation did not indicate. But after installation, the program refused to work.
It is worth noting that almost all user computers installed Windows Xp SP3, as the main browser Firefox 3 (3.5) or IE 8 as desired by the user. Due to the fact that many bank clients use ActiveX, and therefore can only be run in IE, accounting uses it regardless of preference.
So, the installation was successful, but this miracle refused to work and began to spit all sorts of errors. After several unsuccessful attempts to launch it, I decided to delve into the disk with the distribution and in one of the folders there was a funny file called “How to remove IE 8.0” and the following content:
')
support.microsoft.com/kb/957700
In addition, the IE6SP1 installation files were found.
After studying the materials located at the link, it turned out that in addition to IE 8 itself, SP3 would also have to be removed (albeit with the possibility of further reinstallation).
As an experiment, the bank client was installed on a computer with IE 6 and, of course, earned without problems.
As they say, I resent! And instead of adapting the program to modern browsers, users are provided with instructions on how to remove them. I have already got used and calmly treat bad documentation. I am calm about programs and services that require IE, but not about programs that require a long time ago outdated IE 6.
