UPD: So, the results and statistics of the test:
* From 4 pm to 6 pm, 1315 clients were registered in the chat. Chat client is essentially a separate online user who needs to send messages.
* During this time, more than 3000 messages were delivered.
* The maximum online chat that I recorded was 75 people
* Maximum online site statistics LI 220 people
* The site fell after 10 minutes of getting the topic to the main Habra. About 35 people talked in the chat before entering the main page - it worked quickly and did not load the server
* Initially, because of the habr effect, the site itself fell off, and only then, due to an error in the JS code of the chat, the chat itself was behind the DoSil site :) Because There was no timeout for reconnect to the server in case of an error. As a result, about a hundred users began to simultaneously send 5-8 requests per second to the site, from such an influx the server finally went down
* On the tariff VPS2 NUMPROC = 400, the maximum number of processes and threads running inside a virtual server. Perhaps this was the cause of the multiplexer dump.
It turned out that for the normal test the site itself, which could not stand the habraeffect, prevented it.
But we can say with confidence that several dozens of online users kept the chat without any problems without creating a load on the server, making up 0-10% of the CPU, practically did not consume memory. The maximum load on the processor was about 40-50%. Hosting RBC, tariff VPS2.
