Life outside the solar system

In the atmosphere of the planet HD 209458b, a gas giant outside our solar system, chemicals such as carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor have been discovered. This planet resembles Jupiter and revolves around a star very similar to our Sun. Obviously, there is no life on it, but if a similar chemical composition is found around a planet with a hard surface, like on Earth, this may indicate the presence of life. In any case, astronomers are very excited about the discovery, because it brings us closer to solving the mystery - does life exist somewhere else outside the solar system.
