IBM and Canonical offer their desktop solution in the US
Right now, customers from the United States can order a software package consisting initially of Ubuntu OS and Lotus office package including Lotus Symphony, Lotus Notes or an improved version of iNotes, Lotus Sametime and Lotus Live distributed for African companies. The software package is designed for implementation on netbooks and thin clients. According to IBM, the customer thus saves up to 50% compared to a similar Windows option per workplace. This happened after a lot of applications were received from the United States for this decision, following the announcement of this product in September for African firms.
