OEM nettop gets name and price tag

On a tip from Habrachelovek DaemonI , the first announcements of the described and tested by me an ionic OEM nettop, which differs from its counterparts by the presence of a removable optical drive in the kit, were found.

Now his name is Onkyo P305, and he announced as a Japanese stylish concept mini PC.

Specifications

The characteristics of a nettop, as I said, are almost the same as those of the low-end Wexler VisION model:

Processor: Intel Atom 230
Chipset: nVidia ION with gf9400m graphics
RAM: 2Gb DDR2-800
Hard Drive: 160GB
Optional: SD card reader, eSATA port, mini-HDMI port, 5 USB 2.0 ports

Details

Of course, a nettop is not made in Japan, and certainly not by Onkyo. The manufacturer of this nettop is an excellent Taiwanese company Pegatron, which also produces VisION. Differences in hardware between these two models are minimal, the P305 has 1GB of memory more, there is an eSATA port and mini-HDMI (cables and adapters to which we practically can not find).

The modular optical drive can be replaced with a removable module with two hard drives, which are also connected via USB. It is not known whether it will be supported by the RAID module, as long as the module has not gone beyond the Pegatron's laboratory.

Prices and terms

Onkyo is going to start selling in March next year. The price of the nettop will fluctuate around $ 770 , but it seems to me that it is not for the minimum configuration. It would be strange to sell a nettop at $ 400 more expensive than competitors, only due to the presence of an optical drive.

At the moment, nVidia is looking for strategic partners to distribute this model in Russia. So, we all have a chance, in the foreseeable future, to find it in the Russian retail. Curiously, at the same price as the Japanese, or not ...
