Should I moderate user content at an early stage of development of a startup?
Not so long ago, my friends and I launched a small stapler. He is a social network for musicians. Groups register, download music, post pictures. In general, everything, like everyone else. Everything was good as long as I began to notice that the musicians are not very literate people, but very vulnerable. The names of half of the groups were typed by CAPSLOCK, moreover, from this half, about a third contained all sorts of special characters, such as asterisks, exclamation marks and symbols of nuclear threat. Because of what the whole site looked like a zoo and I personally was not very pleased to read its pages. I didn’t like this situation and I decided to moderate all the names of the groups myself. I transferred everything to lower case and killed all the special stuff. Some groups were very offended, saying that it was their corporate style, that they were so well known to fans, etc. The rules for the names of downloaded songs (caps, incorrect punctuation, etc.) In this regard, there were questions: - Do I need to moderate user information? - What should be given preference: the inviolability of user content or the maintenance of a clean site? - How can I educate the user not to write any nonsense and at least sometimes try to write according to the rules of the Russian language?
Thanks to all who share their experiences. With your permission I will add your advice here.
