The robotics revolution begins!

The Japanese corporation Panasonic takes robotics very seriously and will start offering commercial series of robots over the next few years.
Today, a special division has been created in the structure of the company , which, according to Panasonic itself , will reach annual sales of $ 1.1 billion by 2015.
Recently, in the laboratories of the Japanese electronic giant, a prototype of a medical robot capable of performing certain secretarial work in the clinic was presented. Before that, the company showed a robotic chair for the disabled, capable of performing the functions of both a wheelchair and a bed. Panasonic also showed various prototypes of home robots capable of cleaning rooms, performing intelligent alarm functions, and others.

According to the International Federation of Robotics , in 2008 the global market for industrial robotics was estimated at 5 billion euros . The number of robotized systems in operation, according to the Federation forecast, will increase by 10-15% by 2010.

“The main part of industrial robots will be used in the field of retail sales, assembly of cars and industrial systems, agriculture and medical care,” the Federation said.
The International Federation of Robotics has analyzed and concluded that the robotics industry will make great progress starting in 2010 and will grow to a market valued at $ 500 billion by 2020 .

“The industry of developing and selling intelligent robots is currently at an early stage of development in the market, estimated at $ 8.5 billion ,” said Panasonic.

In early 2007, Bill Gates said that the current spread of robots is similar to the development of personal computers in the 1970s , foreshadowing an amazing growth in the robotic industry in the near future - see the article “Microsoft Predicts the Robotics Revolution . ”

A study published in the scientific journal Technological Forecasting and Social Change says that by 2020 about 40% of the world's armed forces will consist of various kinds of robotic mechanisms , besides, researchers talk about the potential development of such an industry as robotic prosthetics and implantation.

Nowadays, the leader in the density of robots per capita is Japan, where there are 295 robots per 10,000 enterprise workers , the United States and Europe are far behind, the gap with other countries is even more significant. In Europe, there are 50 robots per 10,000 workers, the majority of which are engaged in heavy industrial production, pharmaceuticals and the automotive industry . Germany is the leader in Europe (65 robots), followed by the United Kingdom, Sweden and Italy with 40 robots per 10,000 people.

The International Federation of Robotics predicts that in the next 3 years, humanity can expect an explosive growth in the popularity of robots and the frequency of their use, especially in the household and in meeting personal needs.

By 2011, experts predict a fourfold increase in the number of robots targeted at the leisure and entertainment industry.
Futurologists say that the era of robots is likely to start with household-oriented machines.
Spanish researchers are confident that quite a bit of time will pass and robots may become universal, that is, suitable for a wide range of jobs. And this is where researchers warn humanity from robo-addiction.

PS: I would love to hear your opinion :)
I propose to discuss the article and express your opinion: Are you ready to use robots in everyday life?
