Meet
Illustrators.ru !
Since I myself worked for a long time as an illustrator, a few years ago I had an idea to create a website that would bring together professional authors from the entire territory of the former Soviet Union. After the collapse of the USSR, the profession itself virtually disappeared, leaving an army of aging unemployed book and magazine illustrators. And only in the early 2000s new authors began to emerge, who, unlike the old guard, draw on computers, with the help of a wonderful wonder - the Wacom tablet!
The main difference from specialized resources was that the site had a system for pre-moderating the authors. The site could not get novice authors and fans of "draw." Only professionals who earn an illustration for a living. During this time, not many authors registered on the site, about 1600 in total. But these are really professional authors and, in my opinion, this site is valuable in the first place and this value should be preserved for posterity :).

The first version of the site started in 2006, about a year and a half later, the second updated version appeared, but on the same samopisny PHP engine, only the design was essentially changed.
This week we launched the newest version, moved to completely new “rails” :) And they changed a lot, even the ideology of not allowing a resource for beginning authors. However, novice authors will not fall into the general catalog, but will have their own separate sandbox with limited rights and tools. In the future, we want to monetize the resource specifically for beginners who are willing to pay for the full functionality and the opportunity to engage in dialogue with professional authors. For professionals, the old rules will remain and they will be able to use the site for free.

I would like to develop the value of a resource not only for authors, but also for customers, since it is the customers and the formation of the market that determine such a profession as an illustrator.
In connection with the above, I would like to receive comments and thoughts about a possible resource strategy. It is much better to move and the main thing is to improve qualitatively, so that the resource would become even more useful for both authors and customers. Just common thoughts. I would be grateful for any comments and thoughts.
Thanks to all!
Shl. And, of course, there are a lot of shortcomings on the site that need to be corrected, the obvious ones can not be written, we see them anyway, but if there are any interesting suggestions, we will definitely take them into account in improving the site.
