In comments to yesterday's post, very many wrote that Acer Aspire Revo is better than
Wexler VisION . In many ways, they are right, because at a reasonable price Revo can offer more functionality, including Wi-Fi. However, in my opinion, the main advantage of VisION is its size. As an illustration, I conducted a small photo session to visually compare the devices to each other.
')
First I want to warn you right away, I will not compare the devices functionally. Only a visual comparison and a comparison of height-weight sizes. The third participant in the comparison will be the not yet announced OEM nettop, which I have already shown before and which, as I noticed, found recognition among the masters. NVIDIA has kindly provided him and Acer Aspire Revo to me for testing, for which special thanks to Irina Shekhovtsova.
Overall credit

To begin with - a couple of common photos of nettops against each other. On the first photo you can visually compare the thickness of each nettop, on the second - height. It should be borne in mind that none of the nettops can stand upright without using a stand (they forgot to put the OEM-nettop stand into the bag, we had to use an eraser to prevent it from falling).

For clarity - lined nettops on stands in a row. Next to them hang out two hard drives 3.5 "and 2.5", found in the bins of the motherland.
Sizes of devices :
- Wexler VisION - 172 x 153 x 20 mm
- Acer Aspire Revo - 180 x 180 (210) x 30 mm
- OEM-nettop - 180 x 178 (193) x 20 (39) mm

In brackets are the full dimensions of the nettop. Due to the fact that the Revo has a diamond shape, when installed on one of the ribs, its total length becomes greater than the distance between the ribs. In the case of an OEM nettop, an extra centimeter eats up the USB connector between the nettop itself and the optical drive. Also in parentheses are the maximum thickness of the OEM nettop in the area of the base and the total thickness with the optical drive attached. With the drive disconnected, the thickness of the entire nettop, with the exception of the base, is 20mm. Service sizeasy some buggy ... but visual.
Individual credit
I will not compare Revo and OEM-nettop, they differ in thickness by a centimeter, but are otherwise almost identical. So the main object for comparison, we will have a baby VisION.

VisION vs Acer Aspire Revo. I think clearly ...

VisION vs OEM nettop. They look good together ... By the way, VisION can fit perfectly in place of an optical drive to create an “ionic” cluster. True, there will be practically no functional sense of it ... but this is just for fun. ;)

The moral of this story is as follows. If you need maximum functionality for a minimum of money regardless of size - your choice will fall on the
Acer Aspire Revo . If you need the most compact solution - here
Wexler VisION leads . I don’t choose between “compact” and “very compact”.
And this is not an advertisement at all, I am absolutely impartial and I don’t receive any money for it (which is a pity ...). I hope that I will just help someone make the right choice.
