This strange UFO-like construction is called Urban Oasis - Urban Oasis. Like a twelve-meter blooming flower, the photovoltaic petals of which open and close, reacting to the sunlight and moonlight, it uses the sun's rays, wind and hydrogen to produce energy.
At night, the Oasis comes to life - using the energy accumulated during the day, it gives an amazing light show, the lights of which play with people passing by, change color and strength depending on the actions of passersby.


I met the installation in Manchester, Birmingham and London, where citizens often spoke with her.

The goals of this high-tech flower are:
1. Illumination of the area , for which energy is extracted during the day from wind, sun, air. The light of the installation is capable of creating the effect of the northern lights on the night sky;
2. A gift of pleasure to the soul and body : you climb inside the compartment (there are 5 of them in the installation), breathe the purified air, listen to the sounds of soothing music and watch the video that is pleasant for the eyes and head;
3. Accumulation of rainwater - for watering the flowers growing here and cooling the compartments and the air inside the compartments in the summer;
4. Provision of information - on the displays inside the compartments various reference data are displayed;
5. Providing a platform for performances of street artists , musicians, a center for attracting public attention for various events.
The city oasis opened in London on June 19, 2006 during the national architecture week and is the first system located in a public space in London, powered by photovoltaic and wind energy elements. The installation was designed by architect Laurie Chetwood . The creator explains: “Oasis allows Londoners to get away from the noise, dust and bustle of the big city. It gives a chance to be on an island of tranquility in the center of the city, where people can enjoy a comfortable atmosphere, meet friends, enjoy the way Oasis interact with and entertain them. In addition, it gives confidence that the pleasure of people does not harm the environment, since Oasis provides itself with energy by consuming and processing natural resources. Architecture has the ability to inspire and excite. She can fill us with emotions and all kinds of feelings.
