The launch of 3G in Belarus will be held in late October
The official launch dates for the 3G service in Belarus have become known . This historical event for Belarus will take place at the end of October. Telecom operator Life :) planned to complete commissioning before October 15 , but did not have time for objective reasons. However, the wait is not long.
To date, all the problems with the transfer and cleaning of 3G frequencies allocated by the Ministry of Defense have already been solved. The band is enough to serve up to 300 thousand 3G subscribers.
The monopolistic launch of 3G in Belarus was one of the main conditions under which Turkcell agreed in 2008 to buy the Belarusian state for an unprecedented amount of $ 600 million worth of virtually bankrupt GSM operator BeST, later renamed Life :). The secret terms of the deal became known only now, when two other telecom operators in Belarus, MTS and Velcom, could not obtain the appropriate licenses from the Ministry of Communications under the pretext of “lack of free frequencies”.
Interestingly, right before the start of those negotiations with Turkcell, the Belarusian state sold the Austrians the shares of the largest telecommunications operator at that time, Velcom, for $ 556 million . This was also done under strict confidentiality. If this were a scam, then it could be called super successful.

Public testing of 3G from Life :) will be held on October 18 at 15:00 at 14 Pobediteley Avenue (the site of the exhibition complex Belexpo). By 5:00 pm, the Gomel gangsta rapper Seryoga , famous for the song “Black Boomer” and the soundtrack for the game Grand Thieft Auto IV, will arrive on the feast. It was Seryoga who was chosen by the new advertising face of Life :) operator.
