Data loss in the "cloud" of the Sidekick smartphone

The NY Times reports that some users of the Sidekick smartphone, which is almost entirely cloud-based, have lost their data from the servers of a Microsoft subsidiary with a telling name Danger . Oddly enough, the backup was not provided, and therefore the data is lost forever.

As compensation, users will be able to use the Sidekick services for an additional month for free. Perhaps this is the most ironic approach to the issue of compensation.

Let me remind you that after a month, Microsoft officially starts its own cloud hosting service called Azure .

Update : customers who have lost their data will now receive $ 100 in compensation ... available at the Sidekick service store.

T-Mobile is still silent about the exact number of customers in question. It also states that some lost data can still be recovered.
