I, like many on Habré, "live on the Internet" and the noise of the computer system unit (I have a desktop) is one of the most unpleasant, annoying factors. Of course, the ears got used to this sound for a long time and do not notice it, but the hum of fans and the rustling of the hard disk still put pressure on the brain, interfere with thinking and generally spoil the mood.
Having decided to get rid of unpleasant noise, I climbed into Yandex to explore the topic "Silent Computer".
Yandex has issued many sites, recipes and solutions aimed at combating the main sources of noise - fans, hard drives, CD and DVD drives, etc.
')
A simple calculation showed that buying a really quiet computer with water-cooled, sound-absorbing casing, noiseless hard disk (at the same time quite modern and powerful) would cost a tidy sum, no less than $ 1,500 (I counted about 67,000 rubles).
It seemed to me to be a bit too expensive, and after draining gray matter I decided to go a different way.
Why do you need a silent system unit, when you can simply remove the one that is now from your own ears and let it continue to buzz there? The main thing is that I did not hear him, right?
The task is to transfer the system unit to a certain room, isolated by sound from the workplace, while maintaining the connection between it and the main computer controls - the keyboard, the mouse, the monitor.
I considered the removal of the system unit to the next room behind the door as a sufficient removal (kitchen). I have a large kitchen, aired and suitable free space for the system unit there.
The distance from the keyboard to the system unit turned out about 10m.
So, what did I need to purchase in order to turn this special operation:
1) USB extension cable 5m, 2 pieces = 2x50 = 100 rub.
2) USB hub with power supply = 400 rubles.
3) DVI extension cable, computer monitor, 10m = 700 rub.
4) Additional power filter / pilot for 5 outlets - 200 rubles.
Plus a small cost for neat cabling.
Total, about 1500 rubles.
Significant savings compared to the "quiet computer", is not it?
All this looks quite neatly, only 2 cables come from the system unit - USB and a cable to the monitor (if you want to have speakers on the table, you will need a 3.5 mm mini jack extension cable, but it is also quite inexpensive). The USB hub is located at the workplace, and a keyboard, mouse, and printer are connected to it. Everything works just as well as before.
Thanks to this simple procedure, the workplace has become much quieter. So labor productivity has grown, the mood has improved. In addition, I removed from myself the harmful electromagnetic radiation generated by the system unit, which is very useful for health.
