You can't steal the moon

Ryonan, a Zen master, lived the simplest life in a small hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening, a thief climbed into the hut and found that there was nothing to steal. Returning, Ryonan found himself a thief.

“You have come a long way to visit me,” he said to the wanderer, “and you must not return empty-handed. Please take my clothes as a gift. ”The thief was taken aback. He took the clothes and quietly left.

Ryonan sat naked, admiring the moon. “Poor guy,” he said thoughtfully. “I would like so much to give him this beautiful moon.”
