Book reader

Once today is Friday (Kap suggests that it is already Saturday), I suggest a little distraction from IT-events and talk about one problem. Unfortunately, the last time I meet just an incredible amount of interesting books. The competition is getting tougher, the books are even more interesting, and everything seems to be going well. But, stsuko, as before, from time to time comes every time. And when you spend a couple of hours reading a book, but in the end you realize that this is some kind of crap thing, you want a long time [obscene language], [obscene vocabulary], puke, [obscene lexicon].

Therefore, in order to preserve the health of loved ones, I now read books exclusively on the recommendations. Moreover, not according to recommendations from LJ Tanechka, but according to recommendations of people whom I trust. Well, or at least from people who write so interesting that they want to trust their opinion. If this is finance, then I will listen only to those people who earn more than me . Or programs better than me . Or they simply know how to do something that I do not know.

The other day I came to an incredibly useful site about JavaScript and met there an excellent selection of books on a topic from a person whose professionalism is beyond doubt - Ilya Kantor. Yes, yes, this is the creator of the legendary Algolist ʻa :
')
There is a lot of literature on javascript. Unfortunately, many books, albeit in beautiful covers, teach obsolete things that violate modern standards and programming style.

Of Russian books, 4 of 30 are left, of English - 26 of 40. I hope this is more or less worthy literature, which can need to read.

Ilya also asks about the following: If you have been programming for javascript for a long time and found a good book in Russian (or very good in English) that is not on the list , be sure to write him about it.

But tonight, thanks to @Devgru , I got on a very interesting and useful authoring site about C ++: InsideCPP . In addition to the huge amount of extremely informative material, again, I found a list of books for studying C ++ .

By the way, I already mentioned this project on Twitter . In my subjective opinion, the high qualifications and excellent professional knowledge of the author allow you to trust his choice.

However, you will not take my word for it? Therefore, in the beginning, be sure to read his articles from the Art , Patterns , Anti - Patterns , Test Drive, and Notes section.

Soak up his philosophy, humor and his views on the design of application architecture. Yes, the Hungarian Notation is the most idiotic invention of mankind after the flashlight on solar batteries, and Stroustrup, along the way, wrote his book in a terribly smoky state.

Well, Straustrup will wait. Adept, you ask, so what are you leading? And I lead to the fact that you need a convenient service to solve this problem. I tried a number of similar "book" startups and every time I was disappointed.

Have you heard about the project Byblos from Yaroslav Greshilov ? So I did not hear. Up to this day. It turned out this is what I was looking for so long: a service that helps me navigate a huge number of books and choose them meaningfully.

Do you remember which book you read 2 years and 3 months ago? So do I. Therefore, I decided to correct and start collecting this information. You can, by the way, see my profile on the Bible . It is still under active filling, but you can already read my reviews on a number of books.

And thanks to the system of recommendations (the so-called Neighbors, although what neighbors they fuck me with), over time, it will be easy to find new acquaintances with whom your interests coincide.

I wish you interesting books that will constantly reveal something new to you. Well, you can subscribe to the RSS of my blog and Twitter .
