As an experiment, we decided to return the Yandex.Direct blocks to topics. As before, the block is located inside the post, right between the dashboard and comments (for now). For those who recently on Habré and / or have already prepared phrases from the collection “Habr is not the same - autumn-winter 2009”, I’ll say that it’s not worth resenting for several reasons:
- Yandex.Direct quite peacefully existed in symbiosis with Habr and its users up to the end of 2008 and didn’t make anyone worse. Who did - they used AdBlock and all that. We are not against blocking.
- The introduction of Yandex.Direct, as we believe, is a much more humane and effective way to get additional profit than the introduction of paid services for users.
“Habr is a commercial project, and in order to effectively maintain and develop it, we need funds, this is not going anywhere: the financial situation of many web projects now is not the best.
- Habr is one of the few popular IT sites that are not overloaded with ads: we have only two banners + Direct (instead of dead text ads in the header). Well, one or two special buttons in the menu, which generally can not be considered.
- Over the next few days, we will vary the appearance and location of the block so that it will join the current design as well as possible.
- If this idea does not justify itself in the next couple of months, we will abandon it.
