Squeeze will be released as GNU / kFreeBSD

On October 7, 2009, the Debian development team announced that the upcoming release of the distribution package, code-named Squeeze, will be released with a modified FreeBSD kernel for x86 & x86-64 architectures. The team motivated its decision to include the kFreeBSD port in the official desire to provide a wider choice of cores than it is now. In addition, with the kFreeBSD kernel it will be possible to use Jail , OpenBSD PF and full NDIS drivers.
The Debian GNU / kFreeBSD port is a release of the GNU operating system with the APT package management system, and the FreeBSD kernel. The FreeBSD kernel for this version of Debian has been changed to work with the GNU libraries.
