HotKey Manager - switch desktops and not only

On Habré already skipped posts and comments on the programs of authorship Killer {R} . It was told about the KillCopy file copying utility, the NetView network utility was mentioned . Here I want to tell you about another undeservedly forgotten utility. Who knows, perhaps fame will breathe new life into these programs until they are completely outdated.

So, HotKey Manager . Immediately make a reservation that the program is designed for XP. By name, it seems that this is something related exclusively to the keyboard, but the program has long outgrown its original function. Therefore, we start with the "end" - with virtual desktops.
')
After installing the program, its icon appears in the system tray. icon giving access to the configuration. Here is the Virtual Desktops tab:

Switching between desktops by hotkeys. For lovers of "mouse" interfaces, there is an option to display a graphical socket (circled in red). It is worth noting that HotKey Manager runs a copy of explorer.exe for each new desktop. Overhead costs - about 20 MB for each table, but if the desktop freezes, in most cases the key combination saved in blue is saved. If the explorer does not respond, then instead of logging out of the session, the explorer.exe process ends. By pressing the same combination a second time, you can re-launch the explorer, while all the programs that were running at the time of the accident will appear on the desktop. Convenient, and most importantly not afraid to lose unsaved data. And yes, you can run desktops on behalf of different users.

In general, the program has a lot of functions, up to executing commands copied to the clipboard and changing the priority of processes using a hot key. Talking about all the features for too long, and no need. I will tell only about one small function that I use myself. It is enabled from the Preferences menu:

After that, the window control buttons image gain additional functionality. By right-clicking on the “cross”, you can complete the intrusive program without opening the Task Manager. And Clicking with the right mouse button on the "minimize" button hides this window in the tray, like this:

In this form, I live on my computer console TOR, which otherwise takes place on the taskbar. Of course, you can just run it on a separate desktop, but this is another 20 MB of memory ...

In general, among the Productivity Software there are practically no uniquely good or uniquely bad programs. Habit plays a big role - for example, I am not yet interested in HotKey Manager counterparts, which I will have to get used to. But those who decide to start a desktop manager for the first time, or for some reason are looking for a replacement for their utilities, you should pay attention.
