New power supply for household appliances: minus wire
Sony has shown one of its latest developments - a wireless power supply for home appliances.
Distance - half a meter (up to 80 cm with special "extenders"); power - 60 watts; efficiency - 80%. This is quite enough to power a not too overall TV (which was demonstrated by Sony).
The principle of operation of a wireless power supply is the use of magnetic resonance, the same as in the case of contactless smart cards and some portable devices. The manufacturer emphasizes that only those devices that are tuned to the same resonant frequency as the source receive energy from the power supply, while radiation does not affect extraneous objects. The status of the product is a prototype. Nevertheless, to remove another wire from the zone of visibility is quite realistic now. As for the commercial implementation, there is a suspicion that the Japanese will first refine the product, since while 60 W and 50 cm is not enough.
